Jakub Breier, member of the PACE group at the Temasek Laboratories, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore gives a talk about “Fault Attacks on Cryptographic Devices “ Abstract: It has been 20 years since the first fault attack on a cryptosystem was proposed. Since then, many fault injection techniques and methods have been proposed, offering a wide variety of attacks on both public and symmetric cryptographic algorithms. In this talk, I will provide an overview of possibilities of laser fault injection techniques, targeting microcontrollers and FPGAs. I will describe a simple and powerful attack on AES and a way to bypass the parity-based countermeasure on PRESENT cipher. I will also briefly talk about possible countermeasures against fault injection attacks. This event is hosted by the IEEE CS/SMCS Austria Chapter. |
