Stefan Leitner received the Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.techn. degrees (with hons.) in electrical engineering from Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria, in 2016 and 2020, respectively.

He is currently with AVL List GmbH in Graz, Austria, working as a development engineer for electrical drives in the research and development department. Before, he was a postdoctoral researcher and a university project assistant in the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Brushless Drives for Pump and Fan Applications at the Electric Drives and Machines Institute, Graz University of Technology. He spent an academic year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, USA and he was a Visiting Scholar with Washington State University, Pullman, WA, USA.

His research interests include the design of electric machines and drives, cogging torque reduction and measurement, NVH, and finite-element analysis. Stefan Leitner was a recipient of the Marshall Plan Scholarship in 2016, Oesterreichs Energie-Preis 2017 for his Master’s Thesis, and the 2019 IEEE Industry Application Society Prize Paper Award (IAS Transactions – 1st Place).
