Hi there!

We are thrilled to announce the first LTFAT workshop at the Acoustics Research Institute on Thursday, October 19, 2023, starting at 17:00.

This workshop offers a hands-on introduction to creating time-frequency representations of audio signals with the Large Time-Frequency Analysis Toolbox (LTFAT) for MATLAB and Octave. We will have a particular focus on the construction and use of filterbanks. No previous knowledge about the LTFAT is required.

The workshop is entirely free of charge and is expected to last approximately 3 hours, with an open end. Snacks (with vegetarian options) and drinks will be provided. Please note that we have a limited number of 20 slots available. To secure your spot, kindly register here: https://www.eventbrite.at/e/ltfat-workshop-tickets-726785263287?aff=oddtdtcreator

If you have successfully registered, remember to bring your laptop equipped with either MATLAB or Octave and your favorite audio recordings!

Schedule:

  1. What is LTFAT + installation
  2. Introduction to filterbanks + construction of a constant-Q filterbank step-by-step using cqtfilters
  3. Build a Gammatone filterbank on your own using audfilters
  4. (If time permits) Time-frequency reassignment and phase retrieval

Some info about the LTFAT:

The LTFAT (http://ltfat.org) is a Matlab/GNU Octave toolbox, with a backend written in C. Besides common signal processing routines such as the Short-Time Fourier Transform/Discrete Gabor Transform, it comprises algorithms for calculating the Constant-Q Transform, auditory-inspired filter banks (erb-, mel-, bark-scale), and an extensive collection of wavelet transforms. All transforms are invertible up to numeric precision. LTFAT is available as an Octave package, the Matlab versions can be downloaded here. Windows, MacOs and Linux are fully supported.

We are looking forward to seeing you!
